In August 2021, the management of the municipal enterprise “Municipal Waste Management Company” of the Kharkiv City Council, as part of a working visit, visited several existing European biogas plants for the processing of organic waste.

During the visit, they got acquainted with the leading technologies and equipment that most efficiently process organic waste into biogas, namely: the Recycling Energie AG plant, which focuses on the collection and processing of organic waste in northern Switzerland; Jakob Bosh AG plant, which is engaged in the processing of waste collected from the Eastern part of Switzerland, in particular in Zurich;

Sulo plant, Germany, which is one of the leading manufacturers of solid waste containers, where potential partners have demonstrated the production of state-of-the-art containers.

Also, the issues of introduction of separate waste collection in Kharkiv were considered.

The final stage of the trip was a visit to the existing landfill with a complex of municipal waste processing into biogas ITC, Antalya, Turkey, which is currently considered the most innovative complex with a full cycle of waste disposal and biogas production.

In European countries, biogas production is one of the most promising areas of energy saving in the center of waste processing plants. Biogas has all the advantages of natural gas. First of all, it has a lower cost, is easily transported by gas pipelines, burns without smoke, ash and slag residue and has high energy efficiency.
